Black Diamond Orchestra is the creative vehicle for Sydney based instrumentalists Wayne Wormald, Ben Anderson (drums and percussion), and John Dabron (violin).

Black Diamond Orchestra explores intersections between uncharted territory in improvisation and songwriting. Drawing inspiration from folk, ambient and improvisational music, poetry, and the environment, Black Diamond Orchestra crafts sonic environments that are both structured and free: a dialogue between the composed and the spontaneous.

Over the years, Black Diamond Orchestra has evolved with the support of some key collaborators. The project’s debut EP, Space- was supported by the contributions of Andrew Kimberley, and Robert “Muzzy” Musgrave. Since then, the collective has been shaped by the voices of ambient musician Michael Trifunovic, double bassist Valerios Calocerinos and drummer Brian Donnelly.

Today, Wormald, Anderson and Dabron continue to push the boundaries of alternative music, exploring the outer limits of ambient, improvisational and electronic sounds through live performance and ongoing collaborations across Sydney and beyond.

Black Diamond Orchestra acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, as the first custodians and storytellers of the land on which we create music.
